Another One Breaks Through Million Dollar Barrier

After finishing third in the $202,000 Goulburn Cup on November 5, the Gary Colvin-trained Another One headed to Wodonga where he captured the $100,000 Wodonga Cup over 1590m in emphatic fashion for his large group of owners.

With regular jockey Danny Beasley in the saddle, the 6yo son of Super One relished the soft going to improve from his third placed finish in the race the year prior to win by two and three-quarter lengths, eased down, and in the process take his earnings past the $1m barrier, a figure he will surely continue to add to.

Secured by his trainer for just $18,000 at the 2019 Inglis Classic yearling sale, Another One has raced on 28 occasions to date with nine wins and a further eight placed efforts with arguably his biggest win coming in the 2022 Country Championships at Royal Randwick, but there is also the Listed National Sprint at Canberra to consider where he defeated Kosciuszko winner Handle The Truth.

Jockey Danny Beasley, who had won the race 25 years prior as an apprentice was enthused by the victory.

“He was quite an easy winner, so I was able to enjoy it and you could hear the crowd,” Beasley stated post-race to Racing.com.

Colvin suggested after the victory that the $500,000 Country Cups Final could be a long range plan for the consistent gelding.

At January’s Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast, Bowness Stud will offer 20 lots, giving buyers the next opportunity to purchase a yearling from the Young based farm. Following that sale, a further four lots have been catalogued for the Inglis Classic yearling sale which commences on February 11.
