Bowness Stud Offers Significant National Yearling Sale Draft

With a host of stallions represented in Bowness Stud’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, James and Joss Daly will head north with a draft of 19 yearlings, ready for inspections from Friday morning at the complex.

Resident sire D’Argento has started strong with his first few crops of runners with 60 individual winners highlighted by nine individual stakes performers.

With progeny earnings of just shy of $6m and with winners from 900m to 2400m plus, D’Argento’s runners are really showing versatility on the track.

With 12 lots by D’Argento set to go through the ring under the Bowness Stud banner, some farm favourites include:

Lot 868: D’Argento x Linden, by Pride Of Dubai colt

“An attractive, well-balanced strong colt”

This colt is the second foal of the 1000m-winning Pride Of Dubai mare Linden whose first foal Callidonta (currently unraced) is part of the Te Akau Racing yard in New Zealand.

From the family of stakes winners Left Bank, Cool Chili, Chilibang, Chili Girl and many more, this colt is out of a Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) mare, broodmare sire of 15 winners from 24 runners.

Lot 973: D’Argento x Spice Delight, by Gingerbread Man filly

“Lovely big walking, very good-looking filly.”

Lot 973 is the second foal out of the placed Gingerbread Man mare Spiced Delight, a half-sister the multiple Listed winner Mizlecki, from the family of a host of stakes performers including the Australian-bred, South African raced Champion 2YO Filly Entisaar, it is also the family of stakes performer Kuroyanagi who sold for $1m at last year’s Magic Millions Broodmare Sale.

Lot 1085: D’Argento x Cosmology, by Deep Field filly

“A filly with a huge walk, who is well worth viewing.”

From the extended family of G1 winners La Baraka, Alizee and Astern as well as fellow stakes winners Tsuimai, Willinga Beast, Cuba, Zulfiqar, Mamounia and more, this filly is out of a mare by a son of Northern Meteor – which as broodmares sires have produced 12 stakes performers headed by this season’s G1 Blue Diamond winner Streisand.

Lot 909: Best Of Bordeaux x Oojooba, by I Am Invincible filly

“An early running type who holds herself well with a lot of class.”

From the first crop of Snitzel’s dual G2-winning, G1 placed Best Of Bordeaux, this filly is the second foal of the I Am Invincible mare Oojooba from a heavily black-type laden family which includes stakes winners Hillfa, Walk With Attitude, Zoukerino, Zoukerette, Impulsive Reaction, Contessa Vanessa, Shuffle Dancer, McGaw, Olivia’s Way and many more.

Lot 949: Peltzer x Sarah Elizabeth, by Sebring colt

“A strong, powerful colt who loves to get moving.”

A son of So You Think’s speedy G2 winner Peltzer, sire of stakes winners Buccleuch and Thanks Gorgeous, this colt is the first living foal of the two-time-winning Sebring mare Sarah Elizabeth, a half-sister to the G1 Blue Diamond third placed Godiva Rock, who is in turn the dam of the G2 winner Flag Of Honour.

This colt is out of a Sebring mare who is the broodmare sire of 50 stakes performers led by G1 winners Well Written, Griff and On The Bubbles, while the exact So You Think x Written Tycoon cross has four winners from six runners including the stakes performed All Kings Of Folk.

Lot 985: Tassort x Tavivalley (NZ), by Tavistock colt

“This colt is a clone of his father – has a lot of muscle, power and presence.”

A son of Brazen Beau’s Tassort, the sire of nine stakes performers headed by G1 winner Manaal and the G2-winnig, G1 placed Ameena, Lot 985 is the third foal out of the Tavistock mare Tavivalley, a half-sister to the G1 winner Valley Girl, both daughters of the G3-winning, G1 fourth placed Leigh Valley.

Tavistock is the broodmare sire of 16 stakes performers headed by the ten-time G1 winner Mr Brightside, the winner of more than $18m, as well as G1 winner Mercurial, while this colt is bred on the similar Brazen Beau x Tavistock pedigree cross that has 100% winners to runners.

Lot 1120: Best of Bordeaux x Gatsby’s Girl, by Written Tycoon filly

“An impressive, early running type of filly”

This filly is the second foal of the two-time-winning Written Tycoon mare Gatsby’s Girl, from the family of G1 winner Hit The Roof and fellow stakes winners Alynda, Alynda, Altrista, Capestad and Zalinda.

She is out of a mare by Written Tycoon, broodmare sire of 28 stakes performers led by G1 winner Vibrant Sun and the G2 winner Machine Gun Gracie, while the exact D’Argento x Written Tycoon pedigree cross has two winners from three runners with Rocco Lini a winner of four and Buenos a winner of three.
