Kembla Trial Success For Bowness Stud Graduates
Monday’s set of 11 barrier trials at Kembla Grange racecourse saw three graduates of Bowness Stud win their respective heats, with two of those having half relations set to sell at the 2024 yearling sales.
First out was the Ross McConville-trained Either Oar (pictured below), with the daughter of former Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unencumbered pulling clear by a length and a half.
Consigned via the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale in 2019, the chestnut failed to meet her reserve in the ring, but on the race track her $250,000 plus earnings is testament to the ability she has. Having won four, and placing on a further ten occasions from 29 starts, the Kembla Grange based 6yo looks ready to resume in the coming weeks.
At January’s Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast, we will offer Lot 1234, the D’Argneto half-brother to Either Oar as part of our Book 2 offering.
A handful of trials later, 3yo Super One filly Rose To Win scored a narrow, but decisive victory over 820m in her trial.
Trained by G1-winning conditioner Kerry Parker, the filly was secured from our draft at the 2022 Inglis Classic yearling sale when knocked down to her trainer for $50,000, and at February’s Classic sale we will offer her half-brother by our resident, G1 Rosehill Guineas winner D’Argento.
Consigned as Lot 648, the grey colt is out of the Listed Talindert Stakes winner Rosarino, making the colt a half-brother to dual Listed winner and our Inglis Premier consigned runner Indian Pacific (Zoustar).
The final trial winner of the day came in the very next heat with the Peter Green-trained Killer Kerr (pictured below) pulling clear to win by a length and a quarter.
Sold to Green Brothers Racing for $6,500 at the Inglis HTBA May Yearling Sale in 2012, the 4yo mare has raced on eight occasions, and although she is yet to win, her five placed performances suggest a win is not too far away.
The next opportunity to secure a Bowness Stud consigned yearling comes up at the Magic Millions yearling sale in January on the Gold Coast where we will offer a draft of 20, followed by four lots at the Inglis Classic yearling sale commencing on February 11.
