Another Caulfield Cup runner for Bowness Stud

Bowness Stud is set to be represented by another Caulfield Cup runner for the second time in three years.

Chapada's very good win in last Saturday's Group 2 MRC Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) will see the 5-year-old gelding emulate Youngstar, the Group 1 winning daughter of High Chaparral (Ire) who ran 7th in the 2018 renewal before going on to take her place in the past two Melbourne Cups.

Chapada proudly carries the 'JN' brand of Bowness Stud and is another great advertisement for our methods, processes and beliefs, as well as a sales approach that keeps on yielding outstanding results.

Chapada sold to Paul Moroney Bloodstock as a yearling for just $32,500 and is now the winner of $716,690. His 23 career starts to date have seen him place in the G1 VRC Victoria Derby (2500m), G1 ATC Rosehill Guineas (2000m), G2 MRC Sandown Classic (2400m) and G3 MRC Naturalism Stakes (2000m) even before his feature race success at Caulfield.

Chapada was bred by Bowness Stud and is a son of Bullet Train (GB), the three-quarter brother to Frankel who was made available to local broodmare owners between 2013-17. Saturday saw the superbly-bred son of Sadler’s Wells represented by no fewer than four individual winners across Australia over distances ranging from 1000m-2400m.

The past few weeks have seen Bowness Stud sales graduates again to the fore during another Spring Carnival — in both Sydney and Melbourne. The Epsom Handicap at Royal Randwick witnessed Funstar add to her exceptional CV by finishing a courageous runner-up to arch-rival Probabeel (NZ) in the celebrated Group 1 mile.
