It speaks volumes when a race such as The Kosciuszko — which captures so much widespread racing industry attention as well as the imagination of NSW Country folk — is set to feature not one but two highly-rated sons of Bowness Stud resident sire Bon Hoffa.

Within hours of the first slots for this year’s $1.3 million renewal being confirmed, both Noble Boy and Don’t Give a Damn had each gained a berth in the provisional field and were listed amongst the prized event’s pre-post favourites.

Both gelded sons of Bon Hoffa that have already won seven races apiece as well over $500,000 in one stance and just short of the figure in the other, Noble Boy and Don’t Give a Damn are now set to line-up in the most valuable event on the NSW Country racing calendar with genuine claims of landing the major spoils.

The exciting lead-up to next month’s The Kosciuszko is further evidence of the fact that Bon Hoffa keeps ‘kicking goals’ in all forms of domestic competition and remains an outstanding option for breeders still to place their broodmare/s for the 2019 breeding season.

Noble Boy, of course, also landed the most recent renewal of the $500,000 Newhaven Park Country Championship Final (1400m), a coveted event in which Don’t Give a Damn had claimed second place 12 months beforehand. Both are outstanding advertisements for the ability of Bon Hoffa to sire a notable money-spinner, but they are by no means alone in this respect.

Already this spring we have witnessed further stakes race performances by Bons Away in Melbourne and Bon Amis in Sydney, with each figuring prominently in black-type company in Australia’s two major racing centres.

If adding the fact that Bon Hoffa is also already the sire of a Group 1 winning sprinter and multiple Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic winning progeny, it becomes apparent that there are not too many stallions in his bracket with a more complete stud record.

Certainly, when it comes to Country and Provincial racing in New South Wales specifically, there isn't a contemporary stallion with more relevance at this present time. Next month's The Kosciuszko an obvious case in point!
