Bowness graduate Paradee earns major payday

Bowness Stud kicked another major goal on a feature interstate raceday when Paradee ran out a very willing winner of the $250,000 The TAB Wave (1800m) on the Gold Coast.

An event newly introduced on the Queensland racing calendar, The TAB Wave was run under Standard Weight-For-Age conditions and carried a $200,000 bonus if the winner was a Magic Millions sales graduate.

Fortunately for owner Robert Anderson, Paradee is a Magic Millions sales graduate. Thus the $200,000 bonus was added to the $145,000 winner’s purse for a $345,000 payday!

Trained by Danny O’Brien in Victoria, Paradee received a perfectly tactical ride from Craig Williams when box-seating for the majority of the journey before being angled into the clear at the top of the Gold Coast straight. The duo eventually wore down long-time leader Frosty Rocks with 100 metres to race to win by a length.

A 4-year-old daughter of Epaulette, Paradee was sold by Bowness Stud at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $240,000. As a direct consequence of her The TAB Wave victory, she took her earnings to $405,975 after just 13 starts.

In addition four wins, Paradee also boasts two 2nds and two 3rds, having only just been beaten in the coveted Group 3 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) during the 2020 VRC Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Winning trainer Danny O’Brien confirmed after her latest win that Paradee would definitely back-up on Magic Millions' 2021 feature raceday prorgram for which she holds two entries.

Paradee is the latest high-profile graduate of Bowness Stud’s successful sales program to make a very favourable impression on the domestic thoroughbred racing landscape. In very recent weeks, Indian Pacific has enhanced his black-type reputation in Perth. Likewise Chapada in Melbourne, when winning the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes and an automatic place in the 2020 Caulfield Cup field.

The duo has followed quickly in the footsteps of Funstar, Youngstar and Trapeze Artist — a trio of bona fide Group 1 winners in very recent seasons which have done the breeding, rearing and raising program of Bowness Stud proud at the very highest level of competition in this corner of the thoroughbred world.
