Another $300K-plus success for the sales team
The first of the stud’s two yearling sale engagements this month was highlighted by another major six-figure lot sold on behalf of a greatly valued Bowness Stud client.
Day 2 of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale at Oaklands Junction witnessed Lot 271, a quality Zoustar colt from the Exceed And Excel mare Bionic Girl, realise $360,000 when knocked-down to Spicer Thoroughbreds/Noorilim Park Thoroughbreds.
In so doing, the youngster became the second $300,000-plus yearling sold by the Bowness Stud team this sales series following a Starcraft colt consigned at the Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale.
To recap on a development that has been well documented by now, that striking son of Starcraft was acquired for $340,000 by Carmel Size Racing to do his future racing in Hong Kong.
The star of our Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale draft was offered on behalf of Bert Vieira (breeder-owner of Group 1 star Trapeze Artist). The colt is a half-brother to this season’s Listed MVRC Inglis Banner 2YO Stakes runner-up Bionics and is a direct descendant of Vamp, a celebrated blood-sister to the legendary Vain.
Two of three Zoustar colts offered by Bowness Stud in Melbourne fetched $100,000-plus. In addition to Lot 271, Lot 47 offered on Day 1 of proceedings was purchased for $110,000 by Western Australia’s prominent Parnham Racing Stable.
The third (Lot 381) of three Zoustar colts in our Melbourne Premier draft made $80,000 when was sold to the Sydney-based syndication company Elite Thoroughbreds.
The second major sale commitment of the month sees Bowness Stud present one of the largest drafts heading to the 2018 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at the Morphettville sales complex in South Australia.
No fewer than 22 lots will be offered by our sales team at the auction, including progeny of the Group 1 champions Sepoy, So You Think (NZ) and Excelebration (Ire), as well as offspring of resident stallions Bon Hoffa and Bullet Train (GB).
